Pioneer Ts-sw2002d2 Review

Pioneer improves on its already popular TS-Series shallow mount subwoofers by introducing the Pioneer Ts-sw2002d2. These low profile subwoofers can fit behind a truck seat or in any tight space while delivering the bass performance you need.

This 8-inch subwoofer can be installed in a ported or sealed enclosure, and Pioneer recommends the UD-SW80D down-firing subwoofer enclosure (Sold separately) as this enclosure is designed explicitly for this sub. The Pioneer TS-SW2002D2 can also be utilized in infinite baffle configurations, and IB setups use the trunk as the enclosure.

The mounting depth is 2-5/8,” which is less than half a standard subwoofer in this class.

This 8″ shallow subwoofer handles150 watts nominal power, 600 watts max., and gives deep bass with superb sound quality because of features like Pioneer’s MICA injection-molded resin which gives it the ability to produce accurate bass.

This 20cm sub is 6.7cm deep and has improved maximum and nominal power. Improve your car audio with 600 Watts of pure, superior bass without complicated installation or losing a lot of space in your car.

Designed for enclosed use, the Pioneer TS-SW2002D2 is fitted with a single oversized cone structure with double spiders to boost power handling and provide a louder and clearer bass. The unique cone keeps the overall moving mass down at controllable levels, which is very important for sound quality and efficiency purposes.

A typical sub controls the woofer’s cone excursion with a damper. The Pioneer Ts-sw2002d2 double spiders need less power to move the cone and are more efficient while producing low distortion and superbly detailed bass.

Oversized Cone Surface

The Pioneer TS-SW2002D2 uses an oversized cone structure that provides more enormous cone and gasket surface and does not change its standard external dimension. This cone surface lets the subwoofer to generate deeper and louder bass by moving more air.

Reinforced Cone Structure

The cone structure of this subwoofer utilizes a rigid cone made with MICA injected moulded resin which creates a durable and rigid cone, giving it the ability to produce accurate bass.

The dual 2-ohm voice coils let you wire the sub for 1-ohm or 4-ohm impedance easily. A small sealed enclosure enables the sub to work best because it makes it ideal for those tight spaces in today’s smaller vehicles.

To drive this single subwoofer, a mono amplifier rated between 120 and 225 watts RMS at 4 ohms is recommended.

Shallow Compact Design

The Pioneer TS-SW2002D2 was designed to perform in spaces or small enclosures that conventional subwoofers cannot fit, for instance, behind the backseat of pick-ups or under some seats.

This 8″ subwoofer generates a lot of bass without having to take up space in a truck cab or trunk. The shallow mount is small enough to match into a 0.15 cu. ft. enclosure.

Pioneer’s TS Series shallow-mount subs provide great bass to vehicles where conventional subs won’t fit. Their low profile lets the use of slender enclosures that will fit behind a truck seat or any tight space while providing the bass performance you need. The Pioneer TS-SW2002D2 8″ shallow-mount sub handles up to 150 watts RMS with a mounting depth of just 2-5/8″.
